Behold - the elusive redfin pickerel: smaller cousin of the chain pickerel. There were a mess of these around yesterday, as they become more active in the colder months. I have seen/heard about 5 or 6 caught this season, while none between 2006-2008. It was a treat - the fish looks like a baby tiger musky.

Henry, can you check my pickerel out i snagged and posted? I cant tell if its a redfin or not. I think its a normal size chain...the snouts alittle sharper on mine than this one...but the fins on mine sure are red...if its redfin im gonna be pissed...the record redfin here is not too big even though they stay smaller.

Never seen one of those. I just added Redfin Pickerel and Grass Pickerel to the dropdown list and updated the listing.

(John and Justin - thanks for letting me know!)

And Grass Pickerel too. I caught one this Summer and had to put it under "Chain Pickerel".

Wow, That's the coolest looking redfin pickerel I've ever seen. I would love to catch one of these. I only know of one lake in South Jersey that one was caught in, and that was over ten years ago.
