28.0" Spanish Mackerel caught by Tide Walker Charters fishing on Friday April 06, 2018 at 07:54

Week ending April 6, 2018

The water is back up to 74.5 degrees in the inter-coastal and the bite is on.

On the in coming tide, just outside Captiva Pass along the edge of the northern sandbar, Spanish Mackerel make their daily runs at baitfish schools resulting this week in some catches up to 30". White bait broadcasted boat side will bring them to you. Silver Spoons and slabs are deadly also.

For Trout and Pompano, we are still working the sandbar and grass flat edges where the structure starts to dive from 4.5’/ 5’ to deeper channel waters. Using a 4’ leader under a popping cork, ΒΌ oz. painted egg sinker covered in glitter over an Owner 4/0 J hook on 30 lb. mono leaders baited with a live shrimp.

Small schools of Tarpon can now be seen in the deep pass holes on your sounders with reports of them taking cut baits from bottom or channel fishing.

Until Next Tide; Enjoy the Magic of Florida Fishing.
