22.0" Unknown fish caught by Dennis Huskins fishing on Saturday March 24, 2018 at 12:33 near Wharton in Morris County, New Jersey (NJ), United States North America using a 5" MULTIJOINTED TROUT PATTERN LIPLESS SWIM BAIT a Swimbait

DAY AFTER THE NOREASTER DUMPED A NEW FOOT OF SNOW I GOT RESTLESS AND TEMPS WENT NEAR 50. So off I went to my current favorite Pickerel spot with a newly created 9' light weight Surf rod to test. Well I was over weaponized, but I still had fun catching 4 nice Pickerel from 20" to 25". I love that they are still hungry and aggressive in the winter. If the ice is out, they will bite at this spot. I think they get big on the Trout stocked upstream in the Rockaway River.

People hate pickerel. I personally love them. They bite whether its 90 degrees or snowing. If you put a heavy mono leader then you shouldn't have problems with bite offs.
