2.5 lb. Walleye caught by Neal Relyea fishing in New York on 08/29/16

Heard a fishing report for the Great Sacandaga Lake that bass were hitting great, walleye, none caught. Our most productive way to fish is trolling. We usually kill the smallmouth this way with anything blaze orange, ( spinners, spoons, but especially Rapala Scatter lures). Trolled for two hours. No fish. VERY unusual. Moved to a new spot. HAMMERED the walleye! Biggest 18.5, some 15". a couple lost at the boat. They were hitting very strangely. Each time they acted like we had bottom. One actually pulled the boat (small row boat) like we had bottom. And they weren't hooked good. Each one that we got on board was with a net. I didn't have to remove the hook. They were hook free in the net. They got off the hook as soon as they were netted. GREAT evening fishing with my son! Then we had a late night walleye dinner. YUM!
