For my latest adventure, I went after Bass & Bowfin in a remote part of Southern New Jersey.

The Bowfin, in my opinion, are one of the most interesting fish that I think you`ll ever encounter. I always refer to them as the "Jurassic River Monsters" and here is why.........

**Here`s a little snippet I grabbed off the `Net;
"Bowfin date back to the Mezozoic Era, Jurassic Period - more than 150,000,000 years ago. Imagine fishing for bowfin while dodging a T. Rex and Tricerotops! It's amazing that these fish have survived unchanged for all those years, that they are among the toughest fighters to swim in American waters, and yet they get little respect."

It ain`t on a stringer ya egghead Brian!!! ha! ha! That`s a top-water Frog hangin` from it`s mouth and I`m holding it with a "Fish Grip"......(`cause they got a mouth full of teeth!)...... Anyways....... I ended catching five `Fins and they all were released unharmed. There`s tons of Bowfins down there...... might even keep one for the grill next time.....to try out.

****Four days after I posted this adventure, I suffered a massive heart-attack...... so won`t be around for a while........ I`m doing well though.... & just returned to work two days ago.

Did you keep it? I looks like its on a stringer and you're holding with pliers.

Please release bowfin unharmed

I used to have a nice bowfin spot in south jersey but the locals wiped them out. Thought they were snakeheads. I still haven't found another consistent spot yet.
