20.3" Largemouth Bass caught by Mike L fishing on Saturday July 19, 2014 at 11:42 near Pittsboro in Chatham County, North Carolina (NC), United States North America using a Trick Worm a Worm

This was my personal best overgrown sunfish (LGM Bass) catch. After pulling in a few small fish (12-14in), I was throwing the worm in the shade as the sun had finally peaked out from what had been a 100% cloudy day to that point. This beast took the worm and ran for a downed tree, with relatively light light line (10lb Floro leader) the fish got stuck under the tree. The net was not going to help me as the river tugged the boat one way and the fish held me to the log. Luckily I had an assist as a friend jumped out of their canoe and reached down to grab the fish. Very lucky on this one, if you look closely the line broke as the fish was being lifted (just beyond the hook, the line ends). What was a messy day on the river (dumped the boat and my gear on two sets of rapids) ended up well. With this beast and only losing a hat on one of the spills....twas a good day. PS. If anyone sees a full brimmed sun-hat floating down the river, it's probably mine.
