My 1st fly rod trout since the spring stocking. Not a big one but I'am proud of it, He ate my own fly design I made so that was even more rewarding :)

Yea I double haul. One of my hat cam video's you see me trying to double haul since than I have gotten a lot better where now I always double haul in open spaces (get so much more distance). Joe I can't give you much advice on roll casting. Watch some youtube video's a few of them have good information

You're right, I have to work on my roll cast. I keep whippinmg the water when I try and don't get much distance. Have you figured out the double haul yet?
Dennis, I convinced myself that you have to get in a boat to pull anything but sunfish out of that lake. That's what I tell myself when I get skunked there. The kid who took over the YOJ tackle shop might be able to give some tips on how to fish that lake.

Joe, try using the roll cast it will help you avoid the tree's personally I cannot perfect the cast but it helps not to lose flies.

You had a great day!! I went to Lake Aeroflex yesterday. Over to the west side, where it gets very deep quickly, and through out to 45 to 60 feet of water a weighted night crawler with a limited float to bring it 4 inches above the bottom. Had two lines out for 2 hours. Also used deep jigs and Texas hooked 8" curly tailed worms. NOTHING! Not even a bite off the worms. Zip. Butr it was a nice day!

That's pretty sweet. I tried nymphing at India Brook a couple of weeks ago. A brownie tried to eat my strike indicator and i tried to set the hook out of reflex and woundthe up foulthe hooking him in the belly. Since then i haven't caught anything but trees.

Joe, I tied a #10 streamer pattern it was .20 fine lead wire, red chenille, red hackle, and white marabou.

Well done, sir!
Was it a nymph pattern or a streamer?
