24.0" Common Carp caught by Brian Shea fishing on Friday April 20, 2012 at 21:34 near Riverside in Burlington County, New Jersey (NJ), United States North America using a 4 lb line and a Worm

I've hooked a few carp over the years but was never able to land one. Today I hooked and landed 3. All were caught on nightcrawlers. They weren't giants but they were great fights on my ultralight rod with 4 lb line. I have my drag set at 1 lb so it got tricky when the fish got into the rivers current.

I also 7 white perch, 3 yellow perch, 2 bass and a bunch of sunnies.

I'm not sure. It felt like a really long time but was probably like 5-6 minutes. On the back side of Amico Island there is no shoreline. I just picked a spot between the trees so I wasn't able to move. A couple times I had to grab the reel to stop the drag so that I could turn the fish. I was using P-Line which is crazy strong for 4 lb. I think the rod would've snapped before the line.

At 24 inches a fat carp like that should weigh in at 8-9 pounds minimal. God that sounds like fun; a strong fighter, a current, 1 pound of drag, ultralight equipment, and 4 pound test line. Ride em cowboy! Tell me how long that hook up to the beach took and did you have to walk-run along the shore to keep up with him?
